A charming small plate featuring the delightful contrast between a playfully endearing cat and traditional patterns such as waves and lattices rendered in rich indigo blue (gosu).
On July 7th, a cat wandered into a Mino-yaki pottery workshop. Named SHICHITA after the Tanabata (Star Festival) celebrated on that day, this adorable cat became the inspiration for the SHICHITA Series of tableware.
The karakusa arabesque pattern features endlessly intertwining vines, a symbol of prosperity and longevity in Japanese culture, traditionally seen on furoshiki wrapping cloths, which the cat carries here.
